The AI Ethics by Design methodology ensures that ethical considerations are integrated throughout AI development rather than added at the end, using structured sessions and adaptive questionnaires.

At RISE, ethics is not an afterthought; it’s part of the design process. The AI Ethics by Design methodology ensures that ethical considerations are integrated throughout development rather than added at the end.

The Process

The process uses short, structured sessions with development teams, typically lasting 45 minutes and repeated at several stages of a project. Adaptive questionnaires are tailored to the specific context, whether robotics, health, or industrial automation, and results are tracked over time to measure ethical maturity.

Robots in Practice

Robots, such as various autonomous machines now used in agriculture, bring forward questions about their role: are they co-workers or tools? What training do farm workers need to interact with them? And how might they affect labor dynamics, safety, and biodiversity?

Impact

By fostering open dialogue between engineers, designers, and ethicists, RISE ensures AI systems are both technically sound and socially responsible, aligning innovation with human values.
