A group of researchers and doctors at RISE, Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital are working together in a pilot project using artificial intelligence to find and interpret pathological changes in the adrenal gland that may indicate tumors and metastases.

Clinical Significance

“The adrenal gland is important to study precisely because it is a common location for metastases of lung cancer, melanoma, and other cancers,” says Vitali Grozman, senior physician at the Department of Radiology at Karolinska University Hospital.

Approach

The project applies AI-based image analysis to medical imaging data to assist radiologists in identifying potentially cancerous changes earlier and more reliably.

Impact

This collaboration demonstrates how AI can serve as a valuable resource in medical assessment, supporting clinicians with enhanced diagnostic capabilities while keeping human expertise at the center of patient care.
